Qualifying Amounts for Tax-free Treatment

General Merchandise

5,000 JPY or more purchased at this commercial facility in a day (before tax).

Consumables

Between 5,000 JPY and 500,000 JPY purchased at this commercial facility in a day (before tax).

※A limit is set on the maximum amount of consumables eligible for tax-free purchase.

※The purchase prices of general merchandise and consumables can be combined if you have general merchandise specially wrapped, just like you would for consumables.

Cautions when Purchasing

General Merchandise

  • 1) Purchased items must be taken out of Japan within 6 months from your date of entry into Japan.
  • 2) A copy of your passport is required for single-day purchases exceeding 1,000,001 JPY (before tax).

Consumables

  • 1) Purchased items must be taken out of Japan within 30 days after purchase.
  • 2) Consumables will be specially wrapped at the tax-free counter. Do not remove this wrapping before leaving Japan. Otherwise, you may have to pay tax for unwrapped tax-exempted items.

Procedures

After making a purchase at ecute, come to the ecute tax-free counter in person on the day of purchase.

Provide items 1 through 4 at the counter.
1) Purchased items
2) Receipts(Handwritten receipts are not acceptable)
3) Passport(Immigration stamp required)
4) Credit card used for purchase(If applicable)

※The name on the passport, receipts, and credit card must be the same.

※Consumables will be specially wrapped at the counter.

Sign the "Covenant of Purchaser of Consumption Tax-Exempt of Ultimate Export".

Receive the difference (between the tax-included price and tax-free price).

When leaving Japan, present the "Record of Purchase of Consumption Tax-Exempt for Export" attached to your passport to Customs.
